Liverpool have been very busy in the transfer market this summer, but they've also been equally as active on the pitch.

Beginning on July 7, they beat Chester 7-0 and followed that up with a win at Tranmere Rovers, a draw with Bury and a victory over Blackburn Rovers.

Jurgen Klopp's men are now in America for the International Champions Cup and kicked off their tournament with a 3-1 loss against Borussia Dortmund.

With new signing Alisson yet to join up with the squad after his World Cup exploits, Loris Karius started in goal and had a chance to impress before the Brazilian arrives.

However, the 25-year-old goalkeeper produced yet another mistake in the pre-season clash which sparked varied reaction from Liverpool supporters.

Will Karius ever get over CL final?

Liverpool's last competitive match was the 2018 Champions League final, in which Karius was directly responsible for two of Real Madrid's three goals.

Everyone, from fans to pundits, feared that it could take the German a long time to recover from his nightmare in Kiev, and that's proving to be the case.

Karius' mini-mistake

With less than five minutes on the clock in North Carolina, Dortmund played a long ball over the top of Liverpool's defence to try and release Jadon Sancho.

Karius initially did well, sensing the danger and rushing out of his area to prevent any possibility of Sancho latching onto the pass.

He got the next bit terribly wrong though, with his attempted clearance going straight to the feet of Maximilian Philipp - check out the video below.

The Dortmund forward's long-range effort rolled just wide of the post, but it was a huge let-off for Karius seeing as his miss-kick could've resulted in the Reds conceding.

Admittedly, it wasn't a massive error, but given his previous high-profile ones, this moment has understandably been amplified across social media.

Liverpool fans react to another Karius error

Liverpool fans reacted in fairly mixed fashion on Twitter to Karius' mistake, and some of them offered relatively mature responses to the incident.

Several people feel sorry for him and think he needs a period out of the team (possibly for good) because his "head has gone" and his confidence is at absolute rock bottom.

However, other Liverpool supporters were purely critical of yet another nervy moment, with a few even trolling him over the recent acquisition of Alisson.

Klopp insists that his compatriot will stay at Anfield this season, but also confirmed that Alisson is his new number one, so Karius' opportunities will be extremely limited.

Karius' inability to convincingly deal with a Christian Puliisic shot led to Jacob Bruun Larsen tapping in Dortmund's 93rd-minute third goal to seal their win.

Virgil van Dijk opened the scoring but now Karius and Liverpool will try to bounce back when they play Manchester City in New Jersey on Thursday.
