Manchester United's preparations for the 2018-19 campaign continued on Sunday night with a draw against San Jose Earthquakes.

United's tour of America began with a 1-1 draw to Club America and they followed that up with a goalless, albeit useful 90 minutes on Sunday night.

Andreas Pereira has started both of Man Utd's pre-season games so far and is desperate to show Jose Mourinho exactly what he's capable of doing.

The academy graduate has spent successive seasons away from Old Trafford in Spain, first at Granada, and most recently with Valencia.

With Pereira itching to establish himself in the senior squad for the upcoming season, United fans made their feelings towards him very clear during Sunday's stalemate.

Pereira v San Jose

Andreas lined up alongside Ander Herrera and James Garner in midfield, with teenage star Tahith Chong, Alexis Sanchez and Anthony Martial in front of them in attack.

Pereira broke through in Man Utd's youth teams as a number ten, and was used in wider areas by Valencia last term, but it looks like he has a new role.

Mourinho is deploying the Belgian-born Brazilian as a deep-lying playmaker and he was easily the brightest spark of an otherwise average display.

In moments where Pereira seemed to be in trouble, he had the calmness, quick feet and technical ability to retain possession, and wasn't afraid to try things either.

What Man Utd fans are saying about Pereira

United supporters who tuned into the match were full of praise for Andreas, who produced some lovely passes in his 83 minutes, labelling him the game's stand-out player.

Red Devils fans, who loved his work-rate and desire to make things happen, also think the midfielder has too much talent not to be a key part of Mourinho's squad.

They firmly believe he shouldn't be shipped out on loan again - check out the best reaction on Twitter below:

Is it Pereira's time to shine?

Pereira certainly caught the eye in Santa Clara, but the biggest issue he's probably facing is the sheer competition for places in Man Utd's midfield.

The club's central midfield options include Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Herrera, new signing Fred, Marouane Fellaini and Scott McTominay.

That said, if the impressive Pereira isn't given a chance to prove himself this season, he may consider leaving Man Utd in search of regular first-team action.
