Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho sent a message to Anthony Martial and his agent following Sunday night's 0-0 draw against San Jose Earthquakes.

The Red Devils are currently touring the USA as part of their pre-season schedule.

Martial's agent Philippe Lamboley said last month the Frenchman wants out of Old Trafford after a frustrating season under Mourinho.

The 22-year-old forward missed out on Didier Deschamps World Cup winning squad.

"After thinking about all the factors and possibilities, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United," Lamboley told French news outlet RMC Sport.

"I think that when United, the most powerful club in the world, do not find an agreement after eight months of negotiations then they do not really want to keep such an important player in their squad.

"That's why this decision has come - it's a well-thought-out decision. Everyone will have their opinion but I think he needs to resume his career. The time has come."

Mourinho finally responds

Man United's Portuguese coach was finally asked to respond to Lamboley's comments.

Mourinho had a pretty candid message for Martial and his agent - you don't always get you want.

"I don't know what his agent told," Mourinho said, before he was informed of what Lamboley said last month.

"I would like to be in Los Angeles now and I am in San Jose," Mourinho added, as per the Manchester Evening News. "You cannot do whatever you want in life. I would love to arrive in Los Angeles, to train in Los Angeles and play all my five matches in Los Angeles, and then don't travel, don't change hotel and then go back to Manchester.

"I would like to play against Leicester on Sunday but I have to play on Friday, so you don't get always in life what you want."

Mourinho couldn't spell it out much clearer.

Martial - who has been linked with moves to Chelsea and Spurs, may want to leave Old Trafford but his manager has no intention of letting him leave.

Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford are yet to return for pre-season so Martial played the full 90 minutes in United's disappointing draw with San Jose Earthquakes.

But the former Monaco wonderkid failed to impress.

Man United fans will certainly be watching Martial's situation closely this season - it could be make-or-break for him.
