Loris Karius’s nightmare spell continued on Sunday night during Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat against Borussia Dortmund in Charlotte. The 25-year-old, who has failed to rediscover his form and confidence following his disastrous performance in May’s Champions League final defeat against Real Madrid, made a couple of poor mistakes against the German outfit. He almost cost his team a goal inside the opening four minutes when he rushed out of his goal and cleared the ball straight to a Dortmund player. However, he was left breathing a huge sigh of relief when the ball rolled wide of the open goal. With just seconds left on the clock, though, Karius made yet another howler in what his fast becoming a terrible pre-season for the German shot-stopper.The former Germany Under-21 international made a hash of what should have been a fairly routine save and the ball fell straight to Jacob Bruun Larsen, who made no mistake from close range.Liverpool’s players were visibly frustrated after conceding such a soft goal and, interestingly, none of them went up to Karius to console him following his latest gaffe. It was also noticeable in the Champions League final how Real Madrid’s players were the first to offer Karius some words of support after his horror show in Kiev.

Journalist saw what Mane did with Karius after full-time

Perhaps Liverpool’s players are just as fed up with him as some of the club’s less sympathetic fans.

Karius, who also knows his game-time will be severely limited this season following the £67 million arrival of Brazil international Alisson Becker from AS Roma, posted an emotional message on his Instagram story to those abusing him, which you can see HERE.

However, according to the Daily Mail’s Dominic King, there was one member of the Liverpool squad who took it upon himself to console Karius after the match.

As the players walked around the pitch at the Bank of America Stadium, Sadio Mane - who wasn’t part of the match-day squad but watched on from the dugout with his teammates - was spotted putting an arm around Karius to offer some support.

Fair play, Sadio. Karius needs his teammates’ support more than ever right now and must have appreciated Mane’s words of encouragement after yet another setback.
