After recent years of uncertainty and dealing with personal issues away from golf, Tiger Woods looks like he is finally on the ascendency regarding form and fitness out on the golf course.

The American ace had a phenomenal outing at The Open Championship that concluded on Sunday.

Although he fell short of his career’s 15th major title, Woods managed to finish the tournament on 5 under par, just three shots behind the eventual winner.

It came as a surprise to him how menacingly close he came to becoming the champion this weekend after his third-round 66.

However, the incident on the 18th hole has held the limelight since the tournament ended.

A fan yelled on Woods’ downswing, making him flinch, yet, the former world number one still delivered as his tee shot hit the fairway.

The person in question was seen standing on the second floor of the R&A’s 800 pound-per-pass Claret Jug Pavilion hospitality tent, holding a beer and was just 25 yards from where Woods teed off.

He was immediately ejected from the course and authorities are looking into further penalising him for his actions.

Woods’ caddie Joe LaCava was also not spared as the man made an offensive hand gesture towards him as well, as he exited the venue.

The 42-year-old opened up about the bizarre turn of events during the aftermath of the tournament.

“I’ve had things like that happen a lot in my career with people who just tried to time it,” said Woods, who did not finish with his normal follow through and immediately looked up at the fan.

“They tipped back a few, and it’s late in the day.

“Unfortunately, that’s part of what we have to deal with in today’s game. People are trying to yell out things to try to be on TV or be in social media or whatever it may be. That was too close to the game of play.”
