It's safe to say that The Shield's latest run in WWE didn't go down exactly as the fans would have hoped.

The excitement was always there ever since the popular group imploded with Seth Rollins going on to embark on a fantastic singles run.

THE SHIELD

It was always thought that The Architect, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose would eventually reunite down the road.

All they needed was the right threat; something Rollins himself admitted ahead of his unveiling as the WWE 2K18 cover star last year.

The threat that did force them to join forces again were The Miz, as well as Sheamus and Cesaro of The Bar.

Even Braun Strowman could be thrown into the mix.

However, the run didn't go exactly as planned with The Big Dog being struck down with meningitis, forcing Monday Night RAW general manager Kurt Angle to don the tactical vest at TLC.

Even Triple H got in on the act during live events.

Then, there was The Lunatic Fringe's injury which basically shelved the plans for The Shield.

Despite that, there are still going to be talks of The Shield reuniting down the line as it's a group that's universally popular with the fans.

If it's a threat that they need to team up once again, then they might have already received their first challenge for WrestleMania 35 in New Jersey.

When speaking to Ringside Collectibles, Woken Matt Hardy was asked about a potential match he'd like to feature in by Noelle Foley at the Grandest Stage of Them All.

SIX MAN TAG

He didn't even hesitate in his response, stating that he'd team up with Brother Nero and Bray Wyatt to battle The Shield.

According to Ringside News, he said: "You know what I think what would be an excellent match?

"Myself, Brother Nero, and Bray Wyatt vs. The Shield. What a match-up that would be.”

Although the Deleters of Worlds have been relatively stale on RAW recently, there's no denying that throwing Brother Nero into the mix would be a welcomed addition.

It has already been teased on social media that this could be the big change that's coming, even though Jeff is currently competing on SmackDown LIVE.

At the moment, there isn't a three-man team that is dominant enough to lure Reigns, Ambrose and Rollins to reunite.

Considering Jeff, Matt and Wyatt are already significant names on the main roster, it might be such a bad idea when you think about the entertainment value.
