Virgil van Dijk is quickly becoming one of the best defenders in world football. The Dutchman has been a revelation for Liverpool since signing in January, and big things are expected of him in the coming season. And Van Dijk proved he is going to be integral for Liverpool this season with his display against Borussia Dortmund on Sunday. The 27-year-old played the first half as he helped his side to a clean sheet in the opening 45 minutes. He also opened the scoring for Liverpool, converting a superb cross from Andy Robertson in the 25th minutes.Robertson took to Instagram the day after the game, where he posted a video of the goal.He also created a brand new chant for Van Dijk, which seems to have gone down very well with fans. The Scotsman wrote: "This is the rhythm of Van Dijk, Van Dijk, oh yeaaahhhhhh 🎼🎤 #wantshisownsong @virgilvandijk“That is, of course, to the tune of Rhythm of the Night by Corona. That's a decent bit of creativity from Robertson. Van Dijk was quick to reply, and he hinted that he approved of the song.

Many Liverpool fans also tweeted their approval.

Meanwhile, Van Dijk claimed Liverpool have to improve ahead of the start of the season.

"There are a lot of things we need to improve but it’s pre-season and we have worked hard to improve other aspects of our game, so it’s bit of a pity that we lose in the last five minutes of the game," he said.

“We still have things to improve on and that’s what we are working on every day.

“It was very humid today, hot, and I think everyone had to dig in. We have trained a lot over the last couple of days, this morning as well, but it’s all part of the pre-season; getting fit and getting better, basically with the hard work we have put in.

“And you want to play today's kind of games and get ready for what’s coming this season.”
