Liverpool's US tour started with a defeat on Sunday as they lost 3-1 to Borussia Dortmund.

Virgil van Dijk opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a powerful header, but late goals from Christian Pulisic (2) and Jacob-Bruun Larsen saw Dortmund emerge victorious.

Jurgen Klopp made nine changes at half-time and he claims it wasn't easy organising his team with so many players involved.

"We've said it a few times, football is a results game," said the German. "We lost, Dortmund scored three and we scored one so that's then a fair result.

"For both teams it was obviously very tough circumstances, the humidity and all that. I think a few players thought after five minutes: 'Wow, where are we here?'

"So that was the football we played in the first half. It's quite difficult in the moment - Dortmund have exactly the same problems - with these mixed line-ups to get kind of an organisation.

"We saw this in the first half. Fabinho position-wise should be the guy who organises but with Adam Lallana around him, Curtis Jones and the two wingers it was not easy."

ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT

One player who stood out for Liverpool was Andy Robertson, who was once again solid at the back and provided the cross for Van Dijk's header.

He posted a video of the goal on Instagram (see below), though he probably wasn't expecting to be trolled for it by his own teammates.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has commented on the post by mocking Robertson's crossing and sarcastically congratulating him for finally getting one off the ground.

Classic Oxlade-Chamberlain. He may be injured and out for most of next season with knee ligament damage, but clearly the Englishman is in high spirits.

And so he should be. Oxlade-Chamberlain's debut season at Liverpool was very promising and it's clear that he has a huge future, which he can pick back up when he returns.
