Neymar has had the fortune of playing with some extremely talented footballers.

At Barcelona, he starred alongside Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Xavi.

Then he moved to Paris Saint-Germain, where Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani became his new teammates.

And being Brazilian afforded him the luxury of playing with Ronaldinho for a brief time.

So it was always going to be tough for Neymar to choose a five-a-side dream team.

Some huge names were bound to be left out.

And, while Neymar wasn’t asked to actually name five players he had shared a pitch with, it’s hard not to feel that the 25-year-old has been rather loyal to his friends in the game.

Neymar's dream team

He hesitated for a moment, according to AS, before picking: “Messi, Dani Alves, Thiago Silva and Gabriel Jesus.”

One presumes Neymar himself completes the five-man squad.

That’s an impressive team, although Jesus’ inclusion will probably be questioned.

The Manchester City forward disappointed at the 2018 World Cup, failing to score in five starts as Brazil were sent packing at the quarter-final stage.

Indeed, Luis Suarez can feel slightly aggrieved at having been left out of Neymar’s team.

The PSG forward certainly wasn’t going to name Cavani as his striker.

The pair’s frosty relationship was well documented last season, with the Uruguayan admitting in May that there was an issue between them.

Neymar and Cavani will shortly reunite with Kylian Mbappe as PSG prepare for life under Thomas Tuchel.

Mbappe will return to the Parc des Princes as a World Cup winner, and Neymar has nothing but praise for the 19-year-old.

“I congratulated him, of course," Neymar said, per Goal.

"But I was happy for him. He's a boy that I have special affection for, he's a boy that I try to pass on my experience [to], even at my young age, to help him become better and better."

When all is said and done, Mbappe may just find his way into Neymar’s updated dream team.
