Ryo Miyaichi says Arsene Wenger convinced him to sign for Arsenal over Ajax.

The Gunners have been pursuing the Japanese starlet for some time and faced stiff competition for his signature from the Dutch giants.

However, the 17-year-old revealed that – after a discussion with Wenger – he was convinced to make the move to the Emirates.

“Mr Wenger told me that Arsenal is my home and I that should learn some English and come back soon,” said Miyaichi.

“It was difficult to choose between Arsenal and Ajax, but Arsenal wanted me the most.”

The talented forward impressed during a trial spell with the Londoners over the summer; wowing the Arsenal coaching staff in a 3-0 victory over non-league side Boreham Wood.

And, according to Young Guns, the youngster will pen a five-year deal with the Gunners when his contract with Chukyo University expires.
