Jimmy Butler looks as though he is doing everything he can to make sure that he is in tip-top condition as he enters the final year of his current contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The point guard could very well be one of the biggest names in free agency in 2019, so he must put in a good season for the Timberwolves across the 2018-19 season to maximize his chances of getting the best deal possible.

Butler was supposed to be in Las Vegas this week for USA Basketball mini-camp that opened Thursday, but he didn't show up and Minnesota revealed why.

The Timberwolves announced that Butler underwent a successful, elective right-hand procedure on Tuesday and that he has already returned to offseason activities.

While the details about the surgery aren't known, we do know that it likely wasn't serious since he is already back taking part in offseason activities.

Most hand procedures as well don't require two months off in order to heal up, so Butler should be ready to go at the start of the Timberwolves' training camp.

A big season is ahead for, not just the point guard, but for Minnesota, as well as they, aim to reach the playoffs once more.

They broke their playoff drought last season when they reached the postseason for the first time since 2004.

It's no secret either that Butler has been struggling to get along with some players at the Timberwolves, so the franchise will need to resolve these issues in order to give the team the best chance of making the playoffs once more.

The point guard will likely be a free agent next summer as well, so it's important to him to have a good season to get a move he likes. Butler reportedly turned down a four-year extension worth approximately $110 million to stay in Minnesota earlier this month.

Butler averaged 22.2 points, 4.9 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game, while shooting a career-high 47 percent in 59 games for the Timberwolves last season.
