Wilshere's comments on Smith Rowe

And Wilshere had only glowing words to say about the rising star in April.

Wilshere, who left Arsenal in the summer, had been a keen observer of Smith Rowe’s during the youth team’s run to the FA Youth Cup final.

“He's been great throughout the cup run," Wilshere told Arsenal Player.

"I've seen clips and obviously I saw his run in the semi-final [against Blackpool] and that's what you want to see from a young player.”

What run, we here you ask? This one.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

Wilshere continued by saying Smith Rowe has “something a little bit special.”

"When he has stepped up to play with the first team, he hasn't look out of place and that's a sign of someone who has a real opportunity of not just making a career, but playing at this club which I know is difficult,” the playmaker added.

"You can see over the years the good players that haven't quite made it, but he has got something a little bit special, and he has a real chance."

Wilshere was even younger than Smith Rowe currently is when he made his first-team debut.

Perhaps the youngster can develop into the player Arsenal fans thought Wilshere would become.
