Unai Emery's tactics and potential starting line-up at Arsenal are starting to become clear.

During his single season at Paris Saint-Germain, where he won four trophies, the Spaniard preferred to play with a 4-1-4-1 formation that allowed a high press.

He explained the tactic back in May after joining Arsenal, saying: "For me, 4-1-4-1 is the system which facilitates that type of pressing.

"The 4-4-2 is designed more and more for zonal positioning. It's less aggressive, but is harder to get past. I am not ruling out the possibility of a 4-4-2."

Due to the vast attacking options Emery has at his disposal at Arsenal, it's highly likely that he will opt for 4-1-4-1 - or 4-1-2-2-1 if you will.

And it would appear he's training the players to play in those positions judging by the contents of his clipboard during a recent training session in Singapore.

In the images below, a back four can clearly be made out with one player screening, two players in more advanced midfield positions, two players out wide and a striker.

So how might Arsenal's team look for the 2018/19 season in that formation? Well, judging by the below starting XI, it's very exciting.

GK - BERND LENO

Petr Cech has been a decent servant for Arsenal in his three years at the club, but Bernd Leno is younger and more able to play the sweeper-keeper role that Emery wants.

RB - HECTOR BELLERIN

A big season is expected of Hector Bellerin following a disappointing couple of years. Now 23, it's time for the Spaniard to kick on and rediscover his previous form.

CB - SHKODRAN MUSTAFI

Shkodran Mustafi has all the credentials to be a world-class centre-back, so hopefully a change of manager will get the best out of the German.

CB - SOKRATIS PAPASTATHOPOULOS

Were it not for Laurent Koscielny's injury, Sokratis Papastathopoulos would probably be on the bench. Signed for £17m, he will bring experience to Arsenal's back four.

LB - NACHO MONREAL

Arsenal's Mr Consistent. Now 32, Nacho Monreal probably has one or two more decent seasons in him, so Emery should make the most of him while he can.

CDM - LUCAS TORREIRA

For so long Arsenal have needed a top-class defensive midfielder - and now they have one. Lucas Torreira has been labelled the white N'Golo Kante and should start ahead of Granit Xhaka.

CM - AARON RAMSEY

This is where it gets exciting. Aaron Ramsey's future at Arsenal may be in doubt but Emery sees the Welshman as an important part of his team. Should be scoring at least 10 league goals.

CM - MESUT OZIL

Mesut Ozil is at his best when played down the middle and even though he might start in a slightly deeper role, he will still have the freedom to dictate play for Arsenal.

RW - HENRIKH MKHITARYAN

A world-class talent on his day, Henrikh Mkhitaryan will thrive from having so many creative teammates around him, not to mention two deadly strikers.

LW - PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG

Take Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's position with a pinch of salt, because he's Arsenal's best striker and Emery will no doubt give him the freedom to play upfront when he pleases.

ST - ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE

Alexandre Lacazette now knows exactly what to expect from the Premier League, so he should be looking to score at least 20 goals next season.
