WWE fans were in for a rare treat earlier this week on Monday Night RAW - if they tuned in to the start of the show.

All week, WWE had been hyping up the massive announcement Stephanie McMahon was going to make regarding the women's division.

RARE APPEARANCE

It was revealed that Evolution would be the first-ever all-women's pay-per-view to take place with the NXT UK Women's Champion being crowned at the event.

Evidently, it made a lot of sense for Stephanie or Triple H to make the announcement, but Vince McMahon was surprisingly in the middle of the ring ahead of the announcement.

Nowadays, we just don't see Vince appear on television like we used to.

In fact, the last time he was on and did anything of note was when he suspended Roman Reigns ahead of his Universal Championship match against Brock Lesnar.

However, it does make sense as he only ever heavily featured on WWE television when he was embroiled in a feud.

It happened with The Big Dog, and it can be stretched as far back during his rivalries with Stephanie, The Undertaker and even Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Now, he's limited to more of a backstage role where he's pulling strings on everything we see inside of the ring.

Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer discussed Vince's rare televised appearance on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.

Meltzer went on to reveal that the reason Vince has decided to feature less and less on television is because he's now looking very old, and it's why Stephanie and Triple H are effectively the faces of the company.

LOOKING OLD

This is why it was reported that both Stephanie and The Game were important factors in the recent Fox television deal.

According to Ringside News, Alvarez first said: "God bless him, Vince is looking very very old these days."

Meltzer went on to add: "That’s why he doesn’t want to be on television.

"They pretty much made them [Stephanie & Triple H] the faces of the company, not Vince anymore.

"When they did the negotiations and everything, it was not Vince that was involved in those negotiations for the TV deals.

"Triple H and Stephanie were the faces of the company.”

There's no denying that Vince is looking a lot older now.

Still, it's a huge decision on his part to take a step back and not have the limelight on him, when the whole product is what it is today because of him.
