Pre-season friendly or not, everyone associated with Liverpool would have been delighted to beat Manchester United 4-1 on Saturday night.

It was only the International Champions Cup against an under-strength United side but Jurgen Klopp will no doubt be pleased - especially after they also beat Manchester City 2-1 on Wednesday.

It rounds off a pretty decent week or so in the United States with a 3-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund being the only downside.

While the likes of Roberto Firmino, Alisson, Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are yet to return from their World Cup exertions, Klopp can still call upon star duo Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

Both Mane and Salah got themselves on the scoresheet against City, coming off the bench to turn the match around.

But they started against Jose Mourinho’s side, playing 45 minutes each.

And they were heavily involved in the opening goal of the game.

Salah was brought down by Demetri Mitchell inside the penalty area and the referee awarded a spot-kick.

Mane stepped up against Man City in midweek to give Liverpool a last-minute win and he grabbed the ball once again in the Michigan Stadium.

But after winning the penalty, Salah wanted it.

What followed was a little argument between the two players resulting in James Milner having to pull Salah away.

Fortunately, Mane converted and made sure he went over to Salah during his celebrations to thank him for letting him take the penalty.

You can certainly understand the confusion surrounding Liverpool’s penalty taker during pre-season.

LIVERPOOL FANS NOTICE THE LITTLE CLASH

But Liverpool fans on social media certainly noticed the little clash between their two star players:

Given his 44 goals last season, Salah probably wants to be given the opportunity to grab even more goals at Anfield, while Mane doesn’t want to be left in the shadows by the Egyptian king.

Then there’s James Milner, who used to be Liverpool’s number one spot-kick taker and Fabinho - who had an incredible record from 12 yards whilst at Monaco.

Klopp will no doubt make it clear who is Liverpool’s penalty taker ahead of their Premier League campaign.
