Barcelona managed to complete their third summer signing last week with the capture of Malcom.

The Brazilian winger had already agreed to go to Roma, with the Italian club even announcing on Twitter that a deal had been struck.

But Barcelona managed to hijack the move as they paid Bordeaux £36.9m for his services.

Ernesto Valverde was happy to get the deal over the line, but conceded that he is not certain to make the starting XI.

“We’ve been following him for a while and know him. He can definitely help the team,” he said on Friday, per Reuters. “But (making the starting 11) obviously depends on a day-to-day basis and coach’s decision.”

But what does Malcom's signing mean for Ousmane Dembele?

The Frenchman arrived last summer in a £103.5m move from Borussia Dortmund, but he struggled for form and fitness in hi debut season at the Camp Nou.

There was even talk that Barcelona were ready to send him out on loan for this season, with Arsenal and Liverpool interested.

And that possibility may soon become a reality, after his reaction to Malcolm's signing has emerged.

According to Sport, Dembele's people have told the club their discomfort at the signing of Malcom, considered a clear competitor with the Frenchman for a place in the team.

He is said to be surprised that the club have signed a right footed winger with similar characteristics to him.

Dembele’s agent is set to travel to the Catalan capital in the next days to speak about the situation with the club.

The report adds, however, that Barcelona intend to do everything they can to manage the mini-crisis.

Barcelona are keen for him to stay given the big money they spent on him and will try to help him come good.

Well then. It seems there's a lot drama surrounding Dembele's current situation at Barcelona.

In better news, Valverde has revealed that the club are open to making more signings this summer.

"We're open to any possibility," Valverde said at a news conference at UCLA, per ESPN.

"It's true that we've had some big departures in midfield [Andres Iniesta and Paulinho], so it's likely that we will make more signings.

"We will try to build the most competitive squad possible, keeping in mind the fact that Andres and Paulinho have left."
