Ousmane Dembele's situation at Barcelona is getting stranger by the day.

His future at the club is currently in doubt following the signing of Malcolm from Bordeaux. According to Sport, the Frenchman isn't happy about the added competition.

A move to Arsenal has been reported in the mean time, with Unai Emery said to be interested in taking Dembele on a season-long loan.

And just to make things even more complicated, Dembele has become a figure of hate for some Barcelona fans since the World Cup ended two weeks ago.

Barca supporters are angry that the 21-year-old has decided not to cut his summer holidays short and return to training ahead of the Super Cup.

Dembele only played two minutes for France in the quarter-finals and didn't feature thereafter, so there's an argument to be made that he doesn't need so much time on holiday.

But as it stands Dembele isn't planning on returning, meaning he will start the Super Cup on the bench due to a lack of fitness.

DEMBELE IN NO RUSH

It's hard to know exactly how the youngster feels about his future and the abuse he's receiving from Barcelona fans, although he gave a pretty good indiction on Twitter on Sunday night.

A lot of football fans noticed that Dembele was liking various negative tweets about him, from being a flop to not showing enough commitment.

"Join the Barcelona team to train you idiot," read one tweet, while another said: "Go back to training."

Another tweet that Dembele liked said he didn't have a good attitude and that he should return to Barcelona to make up for his poor debut season.

Here's a small collection of tweets from fans who noticed is bizarre activity.

So what's Dembele up to? Whatever his motives, there's no doubting that the Frenchman needs to pull his socks up for Barcelona next season.

Added competition means he's no longer a guaranteed starter, so perhaps it's in his best interests to return sooner rather than later.
