Chelsea have just over a week to complete their transfer business.

The club have recently been galvanised by the arrival of Maurizio Sarri and Jorginho from Napoli, with the Italian pair injecting some much-needed life into the Blues.

The stagnation under Antonio Conte was damaging, with established stars Thiabut Courtois, Eden Hazard and Willian still considering their futures.

Without Champions League football, Chelsea won't find it easy to keep them.

Nevertheless, Sarri appears to be doing all he can to get players that fit his unique style of play - which is known as 'Sarri-ball'.

His main focus has been Serie A, with Juventus pair Daniele Rugani and Gonzalo Higuain heavily linked.

However, the Bianconeri have frustrated the Blues with their demands for the pair.

Chelsea were hoping to conclude a deal of around £44m for Rugani, for Juve insisted that the buy Higuain as well for around £57m.

As such, Sarri has identified two new players, but one of them does actually play for Juve as well.

According to the Evening Standard, Mattia Caldara is the new centre-back Sarri wants and he has already bid around £35m for the exciting prospect.

Sarri has also opened talks with Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino, who featured for Uruguay at the World Cup.

Vecino worked with the Chelsea boss back at Empoli and Sarri believes he can really help the players adjust to his system.

If the South American does arrive, it pretty much spells the end for Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater, with Chelsea already open to offers for the pair.

Vecino and Caldara would be excellent signings, but Sarri's search for a new striker could be one that frustrates him.

Higuain is looking too expensive, while Anthony Martial is unlikely to be sold to a direct Premier League rival.

However, the Mirror report that talks have begun between Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea for Christian Pulisic.

Could the American's arrival mean Hazard moves to a central striking role like Dries Mertens at Napoli? Who knows.
