Maurizio Sarri hasn’t had the luxury of a full pre-season as he prepares for his first season in charge at Chelsea. In fact, he hasn’t had long to ingrain his methods at all.The Italian was announced as Chelsea’s new manager on July 14, less than a month before their opening Premier League match, after a long-running dispute over his Napoli exit.So it’s not been an ideal summer. The World Cup hasn’t helped matters. Eden Hazard, N’Golo Kante and Thibaut Courtois all stayed for the duration of the tournament and have missed Chelsea’s pre-season fixtures. Then there’s the travelling. The Blues have been to Perth and Nice and their next stop is Dublin, before returning to London. Many believe Sarri will need an entire pre-season to fully install his system - a 4-3-3 in possession and heavy pressing in a 4-5-1 formation out of possession - just like Pep Guardiola did at Manchester City.

But early signs suggest Chelsea’s players have picked it up pretty quickly.

Clips have emerged from Saturday’s friendly against Inter Milan that highlight the intense pressing and swift counter-attacks that will be common at Stamford Bridge.

The videos have left Chelsea supporters drooling at the thought of Hazard and Kante in those situations.

'Kante will have fun in this system'

A midfield trio of Kante, Jorginho and Ruben Loftus-Cheek would rank among the best in the league.

Jorginho’s arrival with Sarri from Napoli has been crucial, with Marcos Alonso recently admitting that the 26-year-old has been helping his new teammates learn the style.

“He is used to playing this way, and he is going to be a great help for everybody,” Alonso told the club website.

“He is giving us tips to get used to this way of playing.

“He moves very well on the pitch, he plays with confidence, and since day one he has looked good.”

Chelsea could be among the biggest entertainers this season.
