Loftus-Cheek pleases Chelsea fans

His arrival, in a £57m deal from Napoli, leaves the Blues with an impressive midfield group.

N’Golo Kante is a guaranteed starter and fans hope Ruben Loftus-Cheek will complete the midfield.

And Loftus-Cheek’s recent actions show he’s desperately eager to impress Sarri.

The 22-year-old, who spent last season out on loan at Crystal Palace, has returned to Cobham for pre-season a week earlier than expected.

Loftus-Cheek was given three weeks off after the World Cup and was due back next Monday - August 6.

But he decided to arrive back a week early to begin his preparations for the new campaign.

Chelsea fans are pleased with Loftus-Cheek’s behaviour, taking to Twitter to express their delight.

"I'm incredibly impressed with RLC for cutting his holidays short and coming back early," Twitter user @ChelsZeeZola wrote.

Fair play to him.

He’s clearly aware of the need to impress Sarri amid the competition to start in midfield.

Cesc Fabregas and Ross Barkley have both been given an opportunity in pre-season, while Kante and Jorginho are expected starters.

Loftus-Cheek missed trips to Perth and Nice but he could feature against Arsenal in Dublin on Wednesday.

The young midfielder will also expect to play against Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday.

Chelsea fans have been patiently waiting for Loftus-Cheek’s breakthrough season.

This could well be the year.
