With just under four weeks until SummerSlam, WWE are building storylines for the biggest event of their summer.

This week's Monday Night RAW was pretty focused on one match - Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns.

THE UNIVERSAL TITLE

The defending Universal Champion made his return to WWE TV after over three months away - and he caused a fair bit of trouble.

Reigns opened the show, calling out The Beast to join him in the ring, but The Big Dog was only met by Paul Heyman.

Later on in the night, Reigns was escorted out of the arena at the request of Stephanie McMahon, before Lesnar laid a beatdown to Kurt Angle to close the show.

In between those big segments, there was a decent amount of other action - and some of that built towards another big SummerSlam match.

MR. MONEY IN THE BANK

In August, Braun Strowman and Kevin Owens will go head-to-head. If KO wins, he'll win Braun's Money in the Bank briefcase.

If the monster defends, of course, then he'll get to hold on to his contract - one that guarantees a world title shot.

The match will certainly be an interesting one - and on this week's RAW, we got a little preview of what could happen in Brooklyn.

While Strowman was one-on-one with Jinder Mahal, KO sneaked ringside to steal the MITB briefcase.

After taunting Braun with his own prize, Owens was chased around the ring, before he threw the case to Sunil Singh and ran off backstage.

It was a pretty successful segment for KO as he cost Braun the match - but there was a deeper reason as to why WWE had him taunt Strowman last night.

WHY WWE HAD OWENS STEAL THE BRIEFCASE

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the reason KO and The Monster had this encounter was to make fans believe that Owens can beat Braun at SummerSlam.

Interestingly, WOR also notes that it's highly unlikely that this scenario will happen - as doing so would kill Braun’s momentum and "make him look like a geek."

Still, though, only time will tell what happens at the Barclays Center - and at least WWE are keeping things interesting with storylines like this one.
