Exciting times lie ahead for the Lakers with the arrival of LeBron James this summer to join a promising young cast in Los Angeles. James signed a four-year deal to become the latest Lakers superstar earlier this month and there are already changes being made to signify the new era and shift in ambition following his addition. After various leaks online over the past week or so, the storied franchised finally made the official reveal of their new jerseys for the 2018/19 season, Tuesday. Old school fans of the 'Showtime' era when Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul Jabbar formed part of one of the greatest teams in league history will be chuffed with the new design which is inspired by the jerseys worn by those title winning teams. Reaction from players and fans alike has been mostly positive and we've got to admit they do look incredibly sharp. The team's official Twitter page made the reveal of three new jerseys and ushered them in with a spine tingling throwback video reminiscing of their proud history of success and the great players that brought it to them.

The three new jerseys can be seen below. These are so fresh!

The signature shadow underneath the jersey number is back for the first time since 1999 and it's probably not a coincidence that the reintroduction of the showtime inspiration has come at a time when the leader of that team is at the helm of basketball operations.

Fans are loving the jersey already, and the team shop seems to be swamped with happy customers!

It seems that the young stars are loving the new uniforms too. Lonzo Ball posted this picture in the new alternate jersey that takes inspiration from Pat Rileys's championship teams of the 80's.

Brandon Ingram models the all largely white 'association' jersey, but you get the feeling the classic purple and gold will be the more popular choice amongst fans and players.

It's the perfect fresh start to another exciting era of Lakers hoops. LeBron and his cast of rising stars will find it hard to challenge for a championship this season, but Magic has a long term plan in place that involves recruiting other stars to join the King sooner rather than later.

Kawhi Leonard's free agency next summer is a huge milestone for this team's ambitions and winning a title in these uniforms would certainly bring an added sentiment to their return to glory.
