Inter Milan are a club going in the right direction.

After too many years of mediocrity and an absence of European football, the Nerazzurri are back in the big time after sealing Champions League qualification in 2018/19.

And they did it on the final day of the season, beating Lazio 3-2 in their own backyard.

A club with their reputation needs to be in Europe's premiere competition and they have really reacted in the transfer market as well.

As such, their potential starting XI for next season is starting to look like the Inter of old.

This lot should be challenging for the Scudetto next season.

GK - SAMIR HANDANOVIC

One of the best in the business and Inter's standout player during their years of mediocrity.

RB - SIME VRSALIJKO

The club's latest signing, with Croatia's brilliant right-back arriving on an initial loan from Atletico Madrid. A department that was weak last season drastically improved.

CB - STEFAN DE VRIJ/MILAN SKRINIAR

Okay, we know there are two names here, but we have no idea how Luciano Spalletti will choose between the pair.

Skriniar was one of the best defenders in Europe last season, while De Vrij arrives from Lazio on a free with a glowing reputation. What a selection headache.

CB - MIRANDA

The senior figure in the backline, with the Brazilian enjoying a brilliant World Cup campaign with the Selecao. Inter's centre-back options are frightening.

LB - KWADWO ASAMOAH

Another free transfer that improves a weak area of their squad. Spalletti's full-backs weren't up to the task in 17/18, but Asamoah is the perfect man to slot in on the left. He knows Serie A inside-out.

CM - MARCELO BROZOVIC

Brozovic was brilliant at the end of last season and excelled at the World Cup with Croatia. The ideal man to sit at the base of this Inter midfield.

CM - RADJA NAINGGOLAN

A surprise signing and one that seriously improves Inter. He's got a bit of a bad reputation, but the Belgian has been one of Serie A's best for years now. Roma will miss him.

CM - ARTURO VIDAL

Rumours are circulating that the Chilean is on his way back to Italy and what a signing it would be for Inter. That midfield trio is up there with best around.

FWD - IVAN PERISIC

Jose Mourinho's dream signing will arrive back at the San Siro buoyed by his terrific displays out in Russia.

FWD - MAURO ICARDI

The captain always leads by example with his goals and without him, this team would be seriously weakened. However, the former Sampdoria man seems very loyal to the Nerazzurri.

FWD - LAUTARO MARTINEZ

The wildcard option in the team, but Martinez arrives from Racing Club a stellar reputation. Inter could have a prolific Argentine strike partnership for years to come.
