Markelle Fultz's brief NBA career thus far has been nothing short of bizarre.

The number one pick in the 2017 NBA Draft appeared in just 14 games last season largely due to a rather mysterious shoulder injury, though Sixers coach Brett Brown chose to sit him when healthy for large parts of the playoffs amidst his comeback.

Fultz's shot essentially became broken at some stage during his injury comeback and he's been working non stop to try and remodel it since.

The promising young guard is spending the offseason working on his game with respected NBA trainer Drew Hanlen, and whilst the odd snippet has been leaked about his progress, it's largely unknown how he's getting along.

There's a good reason for the lack of information though, and it's something Hanlen will continue to do throughout the process of his client's summer.

Speaking on Alex Kennedy's Hoops Hype Podcast Hanlen revealed he and Fultz's team are simply exercising caution over what they share so as not to put too much pressure on the former Washington star whilst he rebuilds his shot in an attempt to come back every bit the player the Sixers thought they'd drafted.

“What I can tell you is that he’s doing very well." Hanlen said. "I think that a lot of people think that we’re hiding him and we’re not hiding him.

"We’re just being very strategic in what we share because, obviously, you don’t want to ever add pressure to a player when you don’t have to. Fans and the media would love to be able to witness every workout of every player that I work with, especially with guys like Markelle.”

It makes sense to keep much of his work under wraps, but fans and media alike will be clambering for some proof on film that these aren't just empty claims, so hopefully we'll get a few more clips released in the coming weeks.

If all is to be believed though the Sixers will essentially be getting a new player in 2018, and if Fultz can live up to the lofty hype that surrounded him entering the league, this Philly team could be challenging for a title sooner rather than later.

Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid are only getting better and adding another potential young All Star to that impressive core will only make them more formidable in the East.

Fultz looked a dear in the headlights at times last year, but he did show some signs of his ability, and if Hanlen can help him rediscover his jumper of old, the league should watch out.
