This year's NFL draft class could be one of the most exciting of recent memory. In 2018, the rookies will step onto an NFL field for the first time - and there are a number of players who are expected to excite fans from day one.

HOT PROSPECTS

Most of the talk around April's draft surrounded some of the offensive players on the board - and more specifically, the quarterbacks.

For only the third time in history, five signal-callers were selected in the first round.

Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Josh Allen and Josh Rosen were all taken by one of the first 10 teams, while Lamar Jackson went as the 32nd overall pick.

It was Mayfield who went first overall, being selected by the Cleveland Browns.

TRAINING WITH HIS NEW TEAM

Big things are expected of the former Oklahoma QB, especially after he won the Heisman Trophy in 2017.

The Browns are desperately hoping that Mayfield can become their next franchise guy, especially after he's just signed a deal worth $32.68 million in guaranteed salary.

And if early reports are accurate, then they could well have found just what they were looking for.

PROMISING REPORTS

According to Sports Illustrated, Baker is already impressing during his early training sessions - showing great ability and also impressive leadership skills.

"Rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield has yet to throw an interception and has shown pinpoint accuracy and an impressive understanding of the offense," the SI article reads.

"Mayfield practiced with the second team on Monday, as he has been all training camp, while Tyrod Taylor has handled the first-team reps."

According to the article, the rookie QB has already been working closely with third-year receiver Rashard Higgins - and has even been helping him understand the new offensive system.

A REAL LEADER

In fact, the WR has even been going to Mayfield with any questions he has about Todd Haley's schemes - suggesting he already looks up to and trusts his new QB.

"He is always open to questions that I have, because I have a lot of questions, and he is always teaching me," Higgins revealed, per SI.

"He’s always quizzing me, Hey, what do you got on this? I can ask him, Hey, give me a play and I’m going to try to draw it."

PAYING OFF

That new relationship is apparently already paying dividends, as the young quarterback has been connecting with Higgins on some deep routes.

Browns fans will be very excited to hear just how well Mayfield is settling in with the team early on.

There was never really any questions over his football ability - but some were concerned about his attitude both on and off the field.

But judging by the start Mayfield has made - those concerns won't be thrown around for much longer, because he's showing real maturity and even some leadership skills.
