Jose Mourinho is still desperate to add to his Manchester United squad before the summer transfer window closes on August 9.The Portuguese coach has only managed to sign three players so far this summer: Brazilian midfielder Fred, teenage full-back Diogo Dalot and 35-year-old third-choice goalkeeper Lee Grant.United’s summer transfer activity pales in comparison to some of their rivals - especially Liverpool’s - hence why Mourinho’s men are only the bookmakers’ third favourites to win this season’s Premier League title.Mourinho has cut a frustrated figure in pre-season but is confident of making one more signing before the 2018-19 campaign gets underway.“I am confident I will get one [new player], but I think two I am not going to get - which is not a drama,” he told beIN Sports earlier this week, per the Guardian.“In every pre-season it happens the same, with every club, which is that the manager wants more. It’s our nature, you always want more for your team, but then club decisions are different and normally you don’t get what you want, which happened during all my career.“So, if I get one player until the end of the market, that’s fine.”

Neville's Maguire tweets gets Man Utd fans talking

United have been strongly linked with Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic and Leicester City defender Harry Maguire. Both players starred at this summer’s World Cup finals in Russia and are firmly on Mourinho’s radar.

If Maguire can repeat his World Cup performances, he will surely be an upgrade on United’s current defensive options. However, Leicester won’t sell cheap. Potential fees of £65 million and above have been mooted over the past week.

Despite this, former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has got Man Utd fans talking after posting a tweet involving Maguire.

The revered pundit confirmed he will be working on United’s opener against Leicester on August 10 - and hinted that we could see Maguire against Jamie Vardy. Does he know something the rest of us don’t?

Although the emoji suggests he was only joking, Neville’s tweet has still led to speculation that it could be a done deal.

But let’s face it: even if Maguire *does* sign for Man Utd in the coming days, he’s unlikely to feature against Leicester next week.

Maguire is yet to return to first-team training at Leicester after reaching the third-place play-off with England and isn’t expected to be fit for next week’s Premier League opener regardless of which of the two teams he’s playing for.

Man Utd have one more pre-season friendly - against Bayern Munich on Sunday - before the competitive actions gets underway five days later.
