Earl Thomas represents the last remaining member of the Legion of Boom in Seattle.

He's the final reminder of that swarming third level of the Super Bowl winning defense that took out Peyton Manning and the vaunted Broncos passing attack just a few years ago, and it looks like he too could be gone from the Pacific Northwest in due time.

The All Pro safety has been embroiled in an offseason saga surrounding his contract and he's been linked with numerous teams in trade rumours constantly over the past few months.

Thomas wants that situation resolved sooner rather than later and he's beginning to stomp his feet to force an imminent resolution one way or another.

The 29-year-old finally seems to have run out of patience and he issued somewhat of an ultimatum to the hierarchy in Seattle, Thursday via The Players Tribune.

The six-time Pro Bowler made it clear in his piece that his demands are both fair and simple: trade him or pay up for an extension to make him a Seahawk for life.

"I'm asking the Seahawks to do one of two things: Offer me an extension. Or trade me to a team that wants me to be part of their future," he wrote.

Thomas won't back down on his stance either, maintaining that he is simply chasing what he deserves and who could really argue against that.

The dynamic safety is one of the only true sideline to sideline cover men in the NFL and is undoubtedly a Hall of Famer in waiting should he finish his career strongly.

"But I'm standing strong on this -- because I've got to," he added. "I'm standing strong when it comes to getting what I deserve. I've been one of the best defensive players in this league for the better part of a decade, and the numbers show that this team plays much better with me than without me.

"In the end, it's like I said: If the Seahawks don't intend on having me around for the long-term, then I understand," Thomas wrote. "And if they want to start over and rebuild, then that's their right -- it's part of the business. It's not what I want ... but I get it. All I ask, though, is that if that's the case, and they don't want me anymore -- just please trade me to an organization that does.

"Please trade me to a team that wants me, so I can give my all to them for the rest of my career."

What has often been misconstrued amidst this saga is that Thomas desperately wants out of Seattle. That's actually far from the case and he wants that to be known.

"And that's one of the things about this that's been very frustrating -- this idea that I'm doing what I'm doing because I don't want to play for Seattle anymore," he wrote. "That's just not true, man. I love Seattle. But I'd hoped I wouldn't even have to say that. I'd hoped that the way I've played for this team over the last eight years would tell you all you need to know.

"I love Seattle.

"With that being said ... I also have learned why I need to take care of this business side of things. In the NFL, no matter what you've done or what you've accomplished, teams are constantly reminding you that you don't matter."

The Seahawks have big call on their hands: pay an ageing star a kings ransom and please both he and their fan base, or ship him and look like the bad guy clearing house for the sake of the future.

Either way, Thomas just wants to know where he'll be playing in 2018, and he wants to know now.
