Real Madrid's sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus was undoubtedly the biggest move of this transfer window - and it's unlikely to be beaten in terms of magnitude.

The current holder of the Ballon d'Or left the European champions and immediately left a hole in their side; Ronaldo scored 450 goals in his nine years at the Santiago Bernebau and replacing that will be an almighty task.

But that hasn't stopped Real or Florentino Perez from looking and some of the world's greatest number-nine's have been linked.

Robert Lewandowski has reportedly been seeking a move from Bayern Munich, although the Bavarian's are naturally reluctant to sell their star striker, so any fee would be considerable for a 29 year old.

The same can be said for Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani, who is supposed to want a move away now that he's firmly in the shadow of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe - two players that are also on Real's wishlist but are thought to be unnattainable.

Then there's Harry Kane, who certainly ticks many boxes for Real but dealing with Daniel Levy supposedly puts Perez off from pursuing him.

And with many of the world's best forwards looking difficult to bring to Madrid, Real have reportedly made a surprising decision.

Despite losing Ronaldo and having a lot of money to burn, new coach Julen Lopetegui has decided that a new goalscorer isn't necessary as they'd rather give the extra minutes to Borja Mayoral, according to AS.

Mayoral scored seven times last season despite only playing 927 minutes of football and the club is said to hope that he can push that number as high as 20 as Karim Benzema's understudy.

The 21-year-old is seen as a player of high potential in Madrid, leaving Real reluctant to sign someone who would stand in his way.

It would still be a very bold move from the club - certainly a long way from being 'Galacticos'.
