Ozil v Fabregas

The 29-year-old playmaker retired from international football this summer following Germany's disappointing World Cup.

Ozil quickly turned his attention to club football, arriving ahead of schedule for Arsenal's pre-season training.

The former Real Madrid star signed a new long-term deal in north London in January and he's looked very sharp ahead of the 2018/19 season.

During the pre-season friendly against Chelsea, Ozil glanced over his shoulder before receiving a simple pass from Arsenal teammate Sead Kolasinac.

Chelsea's Cesc Fabregas attempted to press the German on the half-hour mark - but Ozil left him for dead with a beautiful turn.

As Arsenal fans have probably come to expect, an inch-perfect pass to Henrikh Mkhitaryan followed.

Ozil's brilliant touch created a great opportunity but the chance was wasted.

Emery offered his support to Ozil after he retired from international football, amid accusations that the German Football Association (DFB) treated him with "racism and disrespect".

"All of us want to help Mesut feel like it is his home here with us, like a family and it is a family for every player," said Emery.

"He feels here with us that he can work every day, and it is good for us that he decided to come here and work with us before our two matches."

"He has experience, he has quality and he has a great mentality and we are going to help him feel good and to show his quality with us.

"I am sure he is going to have a big season with us.

"I am very happy with him, every player is looking together and Mesut has the respect of every player here.

"It is a personal decision from Mesut and I respect it."
