There has been a lot of talk about Ousmane Dembele in the past few months.

The French winger did not perform as expected in his debut season at Barcelona.

After missing the first few months of last season with injury, he struggled for consistency upon his return.

In the end, he made just 23 appearances for Barcelona last campaign, scoring four times.

That tally no where near justifies the £96.8 million that Barcelona reportedly paid Borussia Dortmund for his services last summer.

His underwhelming season has sparked concerns about his future. It is rumoured that Barcelona are willing to loan him out, with both Arsenal and Liverpool rumoured to be interested in him.

The signing of Malcom earlier this summer, a player who plays in the same position as Dembele, sparked further reports that he was seeking a move away.

Sport even claimed last week that the 21-year-old was 'surprised' and 'uncomfortable' after Barcelona decided to sign the Brazilian.

But where exactly is Dembele's head at? Mundo Deportivo have created a report which expresses exactly how he feels. And it's nothing but positive.

The Spanish publication have revealed that Dembele has 'surprised' members of Barcelona by deciding to cut short his holidays and return to training.

The former Borussia Dortmund winger had no obligation to join up with the squad after featuring for France in the World Cup, and was expected to come back shortly after the Spanish Super Cup.

That means Dembele had over a week left of his vacation.

But Dembele returned to training in a bid to show his commitment to the club ahead of the new season.

Mundo believe that there are a few reasons for his early arrival.

Dembele is believed to want to compete for the first trophy of the season, while the arrival of Malcom has also persuaded him to come back early.

Thirdly, Dembele was used sparingly by Didier Deschamps in Russia and thus has not been worn out at the World Cup.

Regardless of his reasons for coming home early, Dembele deserves respect for this.

A lot has been said about the 21-year-old in the past few months, a lot of which has been negative.

But the Frenchman has expressed his commitment to Barcelona by returning from his holidays early in a bid to force his way into the first eleven.

That is sure to go down well with Ernesto Valverde.
