Not only did the FIFA eWorld Cup 2018 showcase the finest players in FIFA 18, but it also gave EA Sports the perfect platform to speak about FIFA 19.

The premier competition at the O2 Arena brings an end to the competitive season on the current game with Stefano Pinno and Mossad 'MSdossary' Aldossary making their way to the final in London.

Top players such as Spencer 'Gorilla' Ealing - who won the competition in 2017 - will now take some time off before the release of FIFA 19 when hours of gruelling practice will be needed to adjust.

However, the professionals and casual fans were given major news about FIFA 19 during the Grand Final day after rumours emerged throughout the week.

The game is tipped to be released some time in September and although the game remains far from completion, EA were finally able to confirm reported features that will make the final game.

House rules confirmed

During an interval at the FIFA eWorld Cup, the new features were announced during an exhibition classic match involving YouTubers such as Bateson87 and Castro1021.

EA remained coy on news regarding FIFA Ultimate Team for the time being, but confirmed a number of items new to the kick-off feature guaranteed to make single matches more entertaining.

They were able to confirm the ability to use 'house rules.'

There are five options available:

  • Long range: a game where goals scored from outside the penalty area count as two goals.
  • Survival: gamers lose one of their players after scoring a goal.
  • Headers & volleys: this mode was only briefly touched on, but it seems FIFA 19 will have its own take on the classic real-life game.
  • First to: allows the player to set a goal-target and the first player to reach that number wins the game.
  • No rules: forget offsides and red cards, anything goes in this game mode

FIFA Ultimate Team updates

Meanwhile, general single match options included: classic match, UEFA Champions League, cup final, home and away, best of series and the aforementioned house rules.

There are also detailed statistics that even include head-to-head records, and these profiles can be tagged to online profiles for whenever you play at a friend's house or other venue etc.

A promotional video was then released about FUT.

New features revealed included: new icons, new Champions League items, new 'ones to watch' and the new mode of 'FUT division rivals.'

Players can now customise the tactics on their D-pad during the games, certain players can juggle the ball while dribbling and there's new and effective way to fake shot.

There will also be choice about the rewards players can win and YouTuber ChuBoi noted the brilliance of Neymar in the new game.

Major prime icon unveilings

Three ones to watch were also confirmed during the video: Cristiano Ronaldo, Thomas Lemar and Leon Goretzka.

Five brand new icon cards were also revealed: Johan Cruyff (94), Frank Lampard (90), Steven Gerrard (91), Eusebio (93), Raul (92) and Rivaldo (92).

The footage used at the competition also showed some provisional ratings of key players with Antoine Griezmann given an 88, Neymar a 92 card and David de Gea boasts a 90 rating.

And with the FIFA 18 competitive season coming to a close, you can guarantee EA will direct all their attention to making sure FIFA 19 is perfect for its September release.

There has been criticism amongst the community regarding this year's game but it's clear that EA are making great strides to make their latest instalment something to savour.
