Finally, Conor McGregor is returning to the UFC.Just under two years after his last fight in the UFC - where he became the first-ever dual-weight champion at the same time against Eddie Alvarez - the Irishman will return to the Octagon to face Khabib Nurmagomedov for his lightweight title. The Russian is 26-0 in his MMA career and 10-0 in the UFC. Many believe the unbeaten wrestling specialist has McGregor's number and he is the early bookies' favourite to grab the win in Las Vegas.McGregor, of course, has taken a sabbatical from the octagon to see the birth of his first son and fight Floyd Mayweather in the most lucrative boxing match in sport history. Now that he is back in the UFC, he'll be looking to regain the titles he never lost and, perhaps, actually defend a title in the company - something he is yet to do despite all of his success. There's no denying that McGregor is one of the all-time greats in UFC history and has been a box office superstar for them, but another man who can be revered in the same light is Jon Jones.Bones is currently on the sideline hoping to clear up issues with the USDA after he took a banned substance that could land him a four-year suspension from the sport. However, he did take the opportunity to McGregor returning to the UFC and it seems as though the former light heavyweight champion has a deep respect for one of his peers:

Speaking after the announcement of the fight, UFC president Dana White claimed that this will be the biggest bout in the promotion's history - a 24-year history at that.

“It's a massive fight. I knew this was the fight to make,” White said after the fight was announced late on Friday night. “And I believe that this the biggest fight in the history of the company, other than the (Floyd) Mayweather fight.

“This thing is going to be massive. You have two of these guys, who are actually both straight killers, coming out of the gate and going straight after each other head-to-head. And in their prime – it’s incredible.”
