Although the former super-lightweight champion is set to take on Colombian fighter Samuel Vargas this September, it appears that British fighter Amir Khan already has his eyes on the bigger prize.

Should Khan win against Vargas, the former Olympic silver medalist has admitted that his next target will be the formidable Manny Pacquiao, however, he is not willing to 'wait around' like he did for Floyd Mayweather.

“If a win over Vargas means I fight Manny Pacquiao, you know we’ll take that fight.

“I won’t be wasting my time chasing opponents anymore as I think I wasted too much time waiting for Floyd Mayweather, for example, and even Pacquiao, but I’m not really going to wait around.

“I’m just going to see what my promoter Eddie and Team Khan have to say and who they think I should fight because there’s no point me wasting any more time.

"I’m just going to be smart now and fight whoever comes up to keep myself busy," Khan shared

Furthermore, Khan waited patiently to fight the man of the moment at the time Floyd Mayweather, but never actually got round to sharing the ring with the American.

Therefore, from his comments, it appears that Khan won't be wasting any more time on his future potential opponents - including Pacquiao.

Interestingly, Khan and Pacquiao trained together earlier on in the British boxer's career and under the guidance of boxing coach and former professional Freddie Roach.

Pacquiao recently made his return to boxing as he defeated Argentine fighter Lucas Mattyse. The Filipino fighter dispatched the South American in the seventh round with a convincing knockout and proved to the boxing world that he is still a fighter to be reckoned with.

However, in order to take on this successful boxer, Khan must defeat his next opponent Samuel Vargas.

The Colombian boxer is a former NCC welterweight champion and will be an interesting test for the British boxer.

This particular fight is set to take place in Birmingham on September 8 with Khan's next potential fight waiting around the corner.
