Although it's an insult he once threw at The Rock, John Cena himself is now competing in WWE as a part-time superstar.Nobody can really blame him for taking it easier now, considering he was incredibly active throughout his 15-year plus reign at the top of the company with little time off.

PART-TIMER

In fact, on-screen Monday Night RAW general manager Kurt Angle also recently had his say on Cena's new limited schedule in WWE.

A lighter schedule is something Angle also wanted, and it's why he ended up leaving WWE in the first place.

When he responded to a fan on his official Facebook Q&A session, he explained that Cena deserves to take some time off.

That doesn't mean Cena has disappeared entirely, it just means he's going to appear less frequently on WWE television as his Hollywood stock continues to increase.

By impressing the Hollywood brass, he's going to have more and more big opportunities falling on his plate - and that means less time devoted to WWE.

However, the 16-time world champion took to his Twitter account this week to reveal when he's going to be making his comeback, and it's not exactly what fans are thinking it's going to be.

For months, Cena has been rumoured to participate at the SummerSlam event later this month, with reports initially claiming that it would be a WrestleMania 34 rematch against The Undertaker.

SHANGHAI LIVE EVENT

However, neither man is expected to feature at the Brooklyn event, but Cena has claimed on his Twitter account that he'll be back in action on September 1, 2018, at the Shanghai house show.

He tweeted: "The 6th move of doom. Ready for #WWEShanghai. Sept 1st."

Evidently, his return will draw a mixed reaction from WWE fans.

At the moment, it looks like Cena is only returning to the ring for the international audience and isn't competing on house shows in the US.

For example, the last time Cena was seen in action was when he defeated Triple H at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

With the live event in China his next live event, Cena is also advertised to appear at the Super Show-Down event in Australia in October.

Despite not competing in any events on US soil, the expectation is that he's still going to be in action at WrestleMania 35 next year in New Jersey.
