May 2, 2015.

The date remains embedded forever in the history of boxing as two giants of the sport faced off to showcase a multi-million event, never before witnessed by the boxing world.

It was the clash between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao!

The contest broke every financial boxing record, which included 4.6 million pay-per-view buys and grossed over $600m in revenue.

Fast forward three years later in 2018, the pair could be linking up again, but this time, as a team, lining up as a boxer-promoter duo.

Registering the 60th win of his pro career earlier this year, courtesy a stoppage win over Lucas Matthysse, Pacquiao disclosed that calling time on his career is far from his consideration, and plans to fight another two or three bouts at least.

The Filipino legend, as of now, is a free agent promotion-wise.

Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn has spoken of his desire to get PacMan onto the new DAZN streaming platform in the US, although, Mayweather has now stepped in and revealed that he has big plans for his former rival, should he want to link up.

Speaking to Fight Hype at a recent event, the 41-year-old said: “Actually I’m going to be getting on the phone to Manny Pacquiao after I get off this call and get in touch because we can put him in position.

“There’s a lot of good competition out there that he can fight.

"I wouldn’t mind matching Pacquiao against Mikey Garcia. That wouldn’t be bad.”

It is widely believed that Pacquiao will be fighting one more time in 2018, so a quick resolution to the promotion saga could be expected.

If the American star partners up with the current WBA [Regular] welterweight champion, the clash between Pacquiao and Garcia would be one the boxing fans would be eagerly waiting for.
