Arsenal are set for quite a busy end to the transfer window.

New Gunners boss Unai Emery is keen to offload the deadwood in his squad, with David Ospina, Lucas Perez, Danny Welbeck, Joel Campbell and Carl Jenkinson likely to be sold.

And it seems the new boss is keen to give Calum Chambers some more playing time this season, with the BBC confirming his impending loan move to Fulham.

The English centre-back signed a new long-term deal back at the start of June and Emery is a fan of him.

But he's unlikely to be a starter this season, as Emery has Sokratis and Shokdran Mustafi as his right-sided centre-back options.

Arsenal desperately need someone to occupy the left-hand side of the two, with Rob Holding currently the only real option.

So it seems only wise that Emery will dip into the market in the final week to sign a more experienced figure for the role.

And the Evening Standard report that he may have found his man is Besiktas' Domagoj Vida, who would cost around £25m.

The 29-year-old centre-back enjoyed a stellar World Cup campaign with Croatia as they reached the final.

However, Vida is not exactly the high-profile acquisition Arsenal fans are after.

The only clubs he has enjoyed success at are Dinamo Zagreb and Dynamo Kyiv - he made just one appearance for Bayer Leverkusen during his single season in Germany.

This has led to a very mixed reception from Arsenal fans on Twitter. Here are selection of the best tweets.

ARSENAL FANS REACT

The general consensus isn't great, but some point out his experience could come in handy - although he may struggle to adapt to the Premier League.

However, Vida himself is keen on a move to England, recently saying: “It’s always been my dream to be in the Premier League.

"I don’t know if the offers due to come in this transfer window will ever come again. I want [Besiktas] to facilitate [the move] for me.”
