With NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 taking place one night before SummerSlam, it's clear that the stars are going to do whatever it takes to steal the limelight that weekend.

It wouldn't be anything new, as the NXT stars are able to set the bar and more often than not, the main roster talents are unable to reach those same heights.

TAKEOVER

This time, however, the excitement for the latest TakeOver in Brooklyn is through the roof, primarily because of the brilliant story that's being told in the main event.

Johnny Gargano's bitter rivalry with Tommaso Ciampa saw the former's actions inadvertently helped his foe capture the NXT Championship.

Throw Aleister Black into the mix, and you have a brilliant triple threat match that the fans are going to love.

It's not as simple as that, however, as Black is now a major doubt for TakeOver.

This is because Black is now injured and has had surgery, so his role in the main event contest is now in jeopardy.

As expected, this has put WWE in an interesting situation, as the triple threat match could very well be ditched to have yet another singles match between Ciampa and Gargano - this time for the NXT Championship.

However, Ringside News has revealed that Dave Meltzer claimed the WWE could throw another spanner into the works and potentially pull out with another major twist.

SURPRISE TWIST?

According to the source, Meltzer revealed on Wrestling Observer Radio that somebody has suggested putting new signing Matt Riddle into the match.

Although an announcement hasn't been made, it's common knowledge now that Riddle has signed a deal with WWE, and it's thought that he'll be in the audience to gauge plenty of interest like many stars before him.

However, Meltzer added that the same sources that suggested to put Riddle in the match also suggested that he should capture the NXT Championship in his debut match to that the brand is able to continue an instant superstar - while admitting he'd also book it similarly.

At the moment, it's unclear whether this suggestion has been taken on board or whether the idea was shot down entirely.

On the surface, it does seem unlikely that WWE would have Ciampa lose the championship already, especially since he's still tied to Gargano in their own storyline.

Plus, advertising a mystery man to replace Black might take some of the surprise away as fans will more than likely already be chanting for Riddle.

While it's not confirmed, fans will undoubtedly have one eye on the stage to see whether or not WWE does have massive plans to kick Riddle's career off with a bang.
