Georges St-Pierre may still be on hiatus from the UFC - but that hasn't stopped him from following what's going on in his sport.

That's not exactly hard though, considering the massive news that broke last weekend.

UFC 229

After months of speculation, it's finally be confirmed that Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov will meet inside the cage.

The pair will go head-to-head for the lightweight title on October 6 - but their bout will be less about the belt and more about the beef.

"Notorious" and "The Eagle" have been on course to clash since April - after McGregor attacked a bus full of UFC fighters that Khabib was on.

The incident caused a whole lot of controversy and landed Conor in court - but now he's been cleared to return to the Octagon.

That's all well and good for those two - but GSP, who's not had a fight since last November - is still looking for another opponent.

CONOR OR KHABIB?

Interestingly though, the outcome of McGregor vs Nurmagomedov could go some way to deciding St-Pierre's future too.

That's because the Canadian fancies fighting whoever wins that, next.

When asked about facing the victor, GSP made no secret of the fact he'd be up for it - and explained why.

"I would be interested in that fight," he told Submission Radio on Monday, per MMAWeekly.

"That’s a win-win situation. It’s a legacy upgrade and it’s good money, it’s going to be a good fight."

Of course, it's not going to be easy making that fight. In fact, the MMA legend doesn't think UFC would make it happen - for one important reason.

A REPETATIVE PROBLEM

"However, I fought at 170 [pounds] and I relinquished the title, I fought at 185 and I relinquished the title, I don’t think the UFC will let me fight for the title at 155."

"They will be afraid I will relinquish and leave the division in ruins."

Georges does have a good point. The UFC are unlikely to offer him another title fight after he's been forced to relinquish his own belts on a number of occasions.

Still, though, it would be great to see GSP step in the cage with either McGregor or Khabib - but only time will tell.
