Manchester United's pre-season tour of the US made the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Jose Mourinho was moaning about everything and players were not performing, culminating in a 4-1 loss to bitter rivals Liverpool.

They did manage to beat Real Madrid 2-1, but all was not well in the camp.

Nevertheless, the whole purpose of a tour abroad is to promote the club brand and allow young foreign fans to get a glimpse of Premier League stars.

Results aren't really important, it's far more about spreading the message of the game and inspiring those across America and Asia.

And United certainly helped with that in a brilliant way, because a video was posted early Tuesday morning showing a lovely gesture from the squad in Los Angeles.

While out there, Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Chris Smalling met up with TV presenter James Corden and took part in a friendly match - but with a twist.

With Jose Mourinho watching on and acting as a linesman, the three United stars lined up to face Corden and 100 kids.

As expected, it made for some brilliant viewing and you can watch the full video below.

While the whole thing is brilliant, we recommend fast forwarding to 4:10 to watch Herrera humorously mock his own antics in a real game.

The Spaniard dives to the floor and then desperately appeals for a yellow card - fair play, Ander.

But the best is saved till last and the winning goal of the game, with Mata executing a bicycle kick in the dying seconds of the game to win it 2-1.

Match-winning goals against kids don't come more ruthless than that.

MATA WINS IT IN STYLE

Shades of that bicycle kick at Anfield a few years back...

The whole video is a simple reminder of the joy the Premier League stars bring to the young people they meet on their pre-season tours.

Well played, lads.
