The positivity surrounding Unai Emery's beginnings at Arsenal have taken a massive blow.

Tuesday morning brought the news that all Gunners fans were dreading, with Stan Kroenke set to complete his unwanted takeover of the club.

The American businessman is a very unpopular man among supporters, but Alisher Usmanov has accepted defeat and will sell the club to him for £1.8bn.

According to journalist Rob Harris, Kroenke took out a £557m loan from Deutsche Bank to finance his takeover.

The move takes shares away from fans and Arsenal Supporters Trust published a telling statement on the matter.

"Stan Kroenke taking the club private will see the end of supporters owning shares in Arsenal and their role upholding custodianship values," they wrote.

"The AST is also extremely concerned to note that this purchase is being funded by a loan.

"The AST is wholly against this takeover which marks a very sad day for Arsenal football club."

The reaction from those associated with the club is worrying and legend Ian Wright posted an eye-opening tweet after the news broke.

WRIGHT'S TWEET

Wright wrote: "Incredibly sad day for so many of our fan shareholders that that no longer own a part of this club 💔 Imagine if this wasn't only about 💰 but about the club, the community & the fans - all this new enthusiasm we are witnessing with Unai wouldn't feel like such a waste. #Arsenal."

You have to hand it to Wright for speaking on behalf of the fans in such a tumultuous time.

Wright's passion for Arsenal these days has really kept him as a firm fan favourite and this just highlights how strong his love still is for the club.

While it's not the most positive of times for Arsenal fans, there is still the promise of watching Emery's new-look side take on the Premier League.

If they can respond on the pitch, Kroenke's takeover will be quickly forgotten.
