We all love to make predictions ahead of a new Premier League season.

What will happen?

Who will win the league? Who will be relegated? And who will win the Golden Boot?

The race for the top goalscorer award was rather exciting last season with Mohamed Salah claiming it having notched 32 goals during an incredible debut campaign for Liverpool.

Harry Kane was denied a third consecutive Golden Boot despite scoring 30 for Spurs.

So who will win it this time around?

Well, who better to ask than a previous Golden Boot winner in the form of Dimitar Berbatov.

The Bulgarian scored 20 goals during the 2010/11 season and shared the prize with teammate Carlos Tevez.

But Berbatov doesn’t think it will be another two-horse race between Salah and Kane like many other fans and pundits.

Instead, he believes it’s a three-horse race - with Salah and last season’s third top goalscorer Sergio Aguero not even involved.

I think the top Premier League goalscorer will be Harry Kane,” Berbatov told Betfair.

“It's a tough call, there's also Aubameyang - because he had a solid first season in the league and will want to build that in his second season with a new coach. There's Romelu Lukaku who performed well at the World Cup.

“Out of those three, I would have to say Kane. He had a tremendous World Cup campaign, will have even more confidence in himself and these aspects help a striker.”

Interesting.

It certainly takes a brave man to bet against Salah being involved in the running for the Golden Boot.

Then again, Berbatov is a United hero so there’s probably a reason he doesn’t want to predict a Liverpool player to be the top goalscorer…
