Last night's episode of SmackDown Live built towards a number of massive SummerSlam matches. With less than two weeks until the second biggest PPV of the year, it's fair to say that the card is shaping up nicely - especially where SmackDown superstars are concerned.

THE BEST ACTION

On Tuesday, WWE Champion AJ Styles returned, hitting back at Samoa Joe for the comments that "The Destroyer" made last week.

The Miz and Daniel Bryan's long-awaited battle was also officially confirmed - ending weeks of speculation that it could be pushed back to WrestleMania.

On top of that, we now know that The New Day will be challenging The Bludgeon Brothers for the Tag Team Championships - after winning a brilliant main event match with The Bar.

What most people forget though, amongst all that excitement from the blue brand, is that WWE's cruiserweights are also in action on Tuesday nights.

A FORGOTTEN SHOW?

205 Live airs directly after SD Live. However, as it's broadcast on the WWE Network, it has a far lower viewership amongst WWE fans.

Still, though, that doesn't mean that the show is not worth watching. In fact, this week, those who didn't tune into 205 Live missed an insane match.

Although the action on SmackDown was as great as ever, all of those matches were arguably overshadowed by Hideo Itami and Mustafa Ali.

Because they went to war last night.

PUTTING ON A CLINIC

Last week, Ali had fans fearing the worst when he posted a photo of himself sitting on a hospital bed - sparking rumours that he was injured.

But whatever sent him to the emergency room wasn't serious enough to keep him out of action - at least for now.

Ali's match with Itami had almost everything - massive spots, action both in and out of the ring, multiple near falls - and a little bit of blood.

After a pretty dominant display, it was Itami who won the match, pinning Ali after hitting three straight running dropkicks. Epic.

Check out some of the best action below.

SELLING THE BEATING

After taking a brutal beating, Ali further sold his injuries post-match. The cruiserweight collapsed near the ropes and just seemed completely out of it.

The referee can be heard asking him what year it is - but Ali has trouble answering the question, selling his beating to perfection.

205 Live may not get the recognition it deserves amongst most WWE fans, but it's important to remember that the work their roster puts in every week is just as impressive as those on SD and RAW.
