It's been a bumpy couple of years for Andrew Luck, but now it finally looks like he's going to return to the football field for the Indianapolis Colts.

Luck hasn't played a competitive NFL snap since January 1, 2017 due to a shoulder injury has been lingering around since the 2015 season.

However, he's now back in full-padded practice and is expected to appear in the Colts' preseason opener against the Seattle Seahawks on August 9 later this week.

While it's a great feel-good factor to see Luck back on the field, at one point, the man himself wasn't sure if he would ever return to the field in the NFL again.

Doubt over future

Speaking to ESPN, the 28-year-old said that he was unsure of his playing future as he rehabbed his shoulder injury over the past year.

He said: “There were one or two moments where I wondered if I am ever going to be able to do this again.

"Certainly this (preseason opener at Seattle on Thursday) isn’t what I’ve been working toward the whole time, but sort of in the same vein it is another step in this journey and one that is sort of about the next one right now. That’s really exciting and that’s fun.”

While this isn't a surprising thing to hear considering Luck's situation, it's not something which you openly hear an athlete admit during his playing career.

When he does step onto the field later this week for what will likely be just a quarter against the Seahawks, it will be his first live action since Week 17 of the 2016 season.

Ready To Go

Luck has said that he feels like he is ready to go for the Colts this season.

He said: “Every day I feel a little bit better about my technique in team drills. Sometimes it’s pretty obvious. Sometimes it’s not and I also feel better. I feel stronger, I feel more fit. I feel like my arm has more in it, and a little more in it, and a little more in it.”

After so much hassle regarding his shoulder over the past year and a half, Luck is finally going to return to the field, and Colts fans probably can't wait to see it happen.
