Chelsea fans had a roller coaster Wednesday night when it came to transfers.

First, they announced that Thibaut Courtois was leaving the club for Real Madrid after weeks of speculation and the unveiling of his replacement Kepa Arrizabalaga followed shortly afterwards.

However, it was easy to forget that a certain Mateo Kovacic was involved in all the transfer business while the goalkeeping situation took all the headlines.

The Croatian midfielder has voiced his discontent at Real Madrid all summer long, delivering similar interviews to those of Cristiano Ronaldo after the Champions League final.

And after weeks of reports linking him to Manchester United, it eventually emerged that Stamford Bridge would be his destination as part of a one-year loan deal.

Kovacic moves to Chelsea

It's believed that Real ensured there was no option for Chelsea to sign him permanently after the year.

Nevertheless, he will still play a key role in Maurizio Sarri's first season at Chelsea and could potentially form a midfield trio with N'Golo Kante and fellow new signing Jorginho.

That's all well and good, but Premier League fans won't necessarily be overly familiar with Kovacic, even if he's hit television screens in the Champions League and World Cup recently.

Chelsea fan's video

Besides, his game-time has dwindled in recent months amid Real Madrid's glut of midfield talent.

That considered, amongst all the classic 'Welcome to Chelsea' videos that have greeted his move, one Chelsea fan posted a rather interesting video of Kovacic from his Inter Milan days.

The midfielder had far more freedom at the San Siro and regular game-time, something he's expected to have at Chelsea and the clip makes for exciting viewing.

Not only does it bode incredibly well but seemingly dispels a lot of the reservations about Kovacic at Real. Check it out below:

Just imagine Inter Milan Kovacic playing Sarri-Ball, it could be spectacular.

If Chelsea place their trust in the 24-year-old and reinvigorate a career that showed signs of stagnation, he could have plenty to offer on English shores.

That's not to mention goals from midfield, something he started to deliver in Italy but was unable to transfer to La Liga for a number of reasons, some of which being out of his hands.

The moral of the story, though, is that Sarri's style of football looks perfect to get the best out of Kovacic and his career history shows what that could mean for him at Chelsea.

Supporters will have to wait and see whether Kovacic can rediscover the form that attracted the interest of Real Madrid in the first place back in 2015.

It could even leave them regretting the decision not to insert an option-to-buy clause...
