One of the most surprising moves of the NBA offseason has to be DeMarcus Cousins signing a deal with the Golden State Warriors.

Back in July, and after receiving no offers of a long-term deal from other teams, Cousins signed a one-year deal for $5.3 million with the Warriors.

Boogie had torn his Achilles back in January of the 2017-18 season while with the New Orleans Pelicans, so obviously a lot of teams didn't want to invest a lot of money into some who might not be the same player once he is able to return to the court.

Now he has a one-year deal in order to prove himself once more, and if he is able to do so, he could end up landing a lucrative long-term deal with a new team next summer.

There was another player that wanted Cousins to join him at his franchise this summer and be his teammate, and that was Washington Wizards' John Wall.

However, as Wall explains, the reason why Washington opted not to sign the center despite him being a need for the team, was because he wasn't going to be available for them at the start of the 2018-19 season.

The point guard told Ben Standig of The Sports Capitol: "At the time I (thought we needed a center who could play right (away).

"Nine times out of 10 (Cousins) is not going to be ready at the beginning of the season. I think we need a guy who can be a starting center right now."

Due to the fact that Boogie wouldn't be available for the Wizards at the start of the season, they opted to sign Dwight Howard instead on a two-year, $11 million deal.

Cousins performed well before his injury last season, as he averaged 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, and five assists across 48 games for the Pelicans. The Warriors will be hoping he can bring this form back with him when he returns to the court later this season.
