Chelsea's summer transfer window has finally come to life following an uncharacteristically quiet couple of months for the club.

Jorginho and Rob Green were the Blues' only signings on Monday, but three days on they've sold Thibaut Courtois, replaced him and signed Mateo Kovacic on loan.

Kepa Arrizabalaga is the man to succeed Courtois in goal and the 23-year-old, who cost Chelsea £71m, claims it's a huge step in his career.

"It's a very important decision for me, for my career, and also for my personal life," he said. "So many things attracted me to the club.

"All the titles the club has won, the other players, the city, the English Premier League. It's an accumulation of things and I am very glad Chelsea has decided to trust me and to take me in."

Chelsea's other signing, Kovacic, also expressed excitement at joining: "I am really happy and excited to be here at Chelsea. It is an amazing feeling. I will try to do my best for this club.

"It is a new league for me, the beginning is always tough but I am sure the coach and my new teammates will help me and I am looking forward to a great season."

RARING TO GO

Kepa will be Chelsea's undisputed No.1 goalkeeper for the 2018/19 campaign, but there's a lot pf confusion surrounding Kovacic's arrival and what it means for the midfield.

Chelsea now have a ridiculous amount of options: Kovacic, N'Golo Kante, Cesc Fabregas, Jorginho, Danny Drinkwater, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

How manager Maurizio Sarri plans to juggle them all remains to be seen but with Loftus-Cheek recently deciding he wants to stay, Chelsea fans have come up with a plan.

And it's as simple as this: don't send Loftus-Cheek on loan, give the Englishman game time and sell Drinkwater and Bakayoko.

Sounds about right. Loftus-Cheek has a huge future ahead of him at Chelsea and that shouldn't be stunted by Kovacic's arrival.

Drinkwater and Bakayoko, on the other hand, showed last season that they're just not good enough and should be sold.
