One of the most talked about moves this offseason in the NBA has been the blockbuster Kawhi Leonard trade between the San Antonio Spurs and the Toronto Raptors. After announcing that he didn't want to play for the Spurs anymore, Leonard was traded alongside Danny Green to the Raptors in exchange for DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poltl, and a protected 2019 first round draft pick.Much has been said about Toronto's treat to trade away DeRozan despite his loyalty to the franchise. However, Leonard is yet to comment since his trade away from San Antonio. Until now.The forward has released his first statement since being part of a trade that ended his seven-year stint in San Antonio.

Thank you

In the letter, he thanked the Spurs organization, his teammates, the fan base, and head coach Gregg Popovich.

Leonard said: "San Antonio, I have been going back and forth the last few weeks trying to figure out the right things to say, and it comes down to two simple words: THANK YOU!

"My family and I want to say THANK YOU to the entire Spurs organization and the people and fans of San Antonio.

"THANK YOU to every one of my teammates I’ve played with over my seven years in the NBA. THANK YOU Pop I’ll always be grateful for my growth under your guidance.

"THANK YOU to the fans! There is not a more passionate or dedicated fan base than what I’ve witnessed in San Antonio.

"Through all the ups and downs – I’m glad there were many more ups! – I’ll never forget what we have shared and accomplished together.

"While I’m looking forward to the next chapter in my career, I’ll always remember the city and the people of San Antonio! THANK YOU!

"THANK YOU! – Kawhi Leonard"

We can expect more comments from Kawhi about his trade away from the Spurs and his future with Raptors next season and beyond when he speaks to the media next, which most likely will be on media day next month.
