Most football fans are predicting the same clubs to make the top six this season: Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal. Not necessarily in that order, but it’s hard to imagine any of the aforementioned clubs finishing seventh or below in the Premier League table. However, there are a handful of teams who should certainly be regarded as top-six dark horses after their impressive summer transfer activity.Newly-promoted Wolves, Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham and Leicester City have all made eye-catching moves over the past few weeks. But there’s another club whose deadline-day activity means they could have a real chance of putting serious pressure on the Premier League’s big boys this season.Everton, who appointed the impressive Marco Silva earlier this summer, have been very busy over the past 24 hours. With minutes to go before the transfer window closes, Everton confirmed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Bernard plus Barcelona defender Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes, who has arrived on a one-year loan deal. Kurt Zouma is also poised to join the Goodison Park outfit on loan, according to Phil Kirkbride of the Liverpool Echo.

Everton's first-choice XI now looks pretty scary

The bookmakers’ odds of Everton securing a top-six finish have subsequently tumbled but Silva must now ensure the club’s new-look squad can gel as a team.

The Merseyside outfit begin their 2018-19 Premier League campaign against Wolves this Saturday.

Two other high-profile summer signings who could feature this weekend are Lucas Digne, an £18 million signing from Barcelona, and Richarlison, who completed a £40 million transfer from Watford.

When you see Everton’s first-choice starting line-up on paper, it actually looks pretty scary now.

Let’s take a closer look…

Goalkeeper: Jordan Pickford

Defence: Lucas Digne, Kurt Zouma, Yerry Mina, Seamus Coleman

Midfield: Gylfi Sigurdsson, Andre Gomes

Attack: Richarlison, Bernard, Walcott

Striker: Cenk Tosun

Look at that team.

Surely they’ll be capable of giving any team a serious run for their money this season.
