Rangers have lost attacking midfielder Josh Windass to Championship outfit Wigan Athletic. The 24-year-old has joined the Latics on a permanent deal following two seasons at Ibrox.“Josh is an exciting player with an eye for a goal and he gives us further strength in attacking positions,” Wigan boss Paul Cook told the club’s official website.Windass, who joined the Gers from Accrington Stanley in 2016, scored 19 goals in 71 appearances for the Scottish giants. While those stats might not look particularly impressive like that, it’s important to note that Windass netted 18 of those 19 goals in 41 games last season. The Hull-born midfielder, who can also play as a forward, now wants to prove that he can replicate the same form in the Championship.“It’s been a strange day; I woke up this morning to get to Ibrox to get on the coach to play in the game tonight and then next minute I get a phone call and I’m here to do a medical,” Windass told Wigan’s website.“It wasn’t an easy decision to make to be honest because I’ve been playing a lot at Rangers, but I spoke to the manager this morning when I got the call and I felt the best thing was to come here to try and prove myself and get this team up the league.”

Dean Windass's tweet angers Rangers fans

Windass is the son of former Premier League striker Dean, who plied his trade for various clubs including Bradford City, Middlesbrough and Hull City.

However, the 49-year-old has angered Rangers fan with a tweet posted shortly after his son’s move to the DW Stadium was confirmed.

In what was clearly a question designed to antagonise Windass Snr, one Rangers fan asked: “Happy fatty?”

But instead of just ignoring it, Windass responded by saying: “Very [pleased] get away from u mongs”.

Rangers fans slam Windass after his tweet

Oh dear. You can see why he has now deleted the tweet - although screenshots were inevitably taken.

Rangers fans understandably feel he was bang out of order for posting this tweet and have expressed their anger on the social networking website…

Although they’re angry with Dean, the majority of Rangers fans have wished Josh all the best following his move to England.

The younger Windass is likely to be mortified when he sees what his old man has been getting up to on Twitter.
