This year's SummerSlam could end an interesting 31 year streak

This year's SummerSlam is expected to be a very long show.

With nine days to go, there's still potential for WWE to add even more matches to the 11 already on the card.

That's because we still have the RAW and SmackDown go-home shows to see - and these are often used to tie up loose ends and build towards an upcoming PPV.

THE BEST ALREADY CONFIRMED

Of course, all of the important matches have already been confirmed.

Brock Lesnar will defend his Universal title against Roman Reigns, AJ Styles takes on Samoa Joe for the WWE Championship and Ronda Rousey will attempt to beat Alexa Bliss for the RAW Women's belt.

Those are probably the three biggest bouts and there's plenty more action to flank them - including Intercontinental and US championship defenses and a number of non-title fights.

Although all this sounds good, there's one big match that WWE fans really wanted to see - but it's probably not going to happen.

UNDERTAKER VS CENA

Despite having absolutely no build whatsoever, there was still a feeling that we'd see The Undertaker and John Cena meet face-to-face in a WrestleMania rematch.

Now though, that looks highly unlikely - with backstage reports suggesting it's off the table.

If those reports are true, then this year's SummerSlam will break a long-running streak - one that's lasted for 31 years.

THE STREAK IS OVER?

2018's edition of the show will actually be the first ever to not feature at least one of four massive WWE stars.

We won't be seeing either Bret Hart, Triple H, Cena or 'Taker - and it will be the first time in SummerSlam's history that none of those men are making an appearance at the event.

That's a pretty interesting stat - but of course, there's a very small chance that two of them could actually have a match in nine nights time - saving the streak.

A SWERVE?

Before The Leader of the Cenation and The Phenom met at 'Mania, there was barely any build to that - so the fact things are so quiet again could just be WWE trying to swerve fans again.

If they don't though, then another of 'Taker's famous streaks will be over.
